Lhasa History


At the A.D. 633 years, Yarlong tribe's Songtsen Gampo established the formidable Turfan dynasty in Lhasa. Lhasa as the capital of Turfan dynasty opened its new chapter in historical development. .Before Lhasa became the capital, it was a deserted place. After it became the capital, people built the palace, constructed the watercourse, and established the temple so as to settle the miniature of Lhasa city. From the Songtsen Gampo dynasty, the Turfan's political power passes on 9 generations of ZanPu (King of Tibet). They all take Lhasa as the capital. At 838 years, LangDaMa took over the ZanPu. He abandons Buddha, then Buddhism appears as the name of Lamaism, and he murdered ZanPu. In 1160, the Cai Pakistan rise suddenly in Lhasa area. After that it gradually substituted for other influence in Lhasa. At the middle period of the13th century, the Yuan dynasty divides Tibet into one hundred and thirty thousand households. The Cai Pakistan is one of them, which has great achievement in Lhasa. At the initial period of the 14th century, Pamuzuba conquered Zigongba, Yasangba and the Caiba successively, then he grasped authority of the whole doctrine. Pazu establishes 13 large families in Tibet, and Lhasa belongs to the Neiwu ancestor. At the beginning of the fifteenth century, Lamaism Gelu(Yellow Lamaism) gradually unified the whole Tibet, forms unified political situation. In 1642, five worlds Dalai established the political power called Gedanpozhang in Phase,In 1652 Dalai came to the capital, received the grand reception and title of the Qing government. He returned to Tibet the next year. The Tibetan local political strengthened gradually. Lhasa has been the capital of Tibet for a long time. In 1721, the Qing government sent chancellor in Tibet and built Gesa government in 1751 and authorized Dalai the self-governing management of Tibet. In May, 1951 Lhasa was liberated, and was officially set up in 1960.
